Symptom

You have created a PHP script or are using a script that you have downloaded from another source. The filename ends in .php, but still the file or parts of it are not interpreted as PHP. Instead, when the file is requested, the web browser displays the source code that is in the file.

Cause

PHP code in a .php file must be started by a PHP Open Tag. If the tag is missing, the code is not interpreted as a PHP script, but output as text to the browser.

PHP scripts can be initiated by two different opening tags:

or

The tag "

Exception: "

Reason for the changed presetting is the increasing use of XML-Code, which is characterized as and thus can collide with the “PHP Short Open Tag” syntax.

Solution

Make sure that all PHP script parts in the accessed pages begin with a PHP Open Tag. If you use PHP Short Open Tags, you must additionally set "PHP Short Open Tag" to "On" in the PHP configuration.

The PHP Short Open Tag setting cannot be changed by yourself. Please send a request to our support and let us know for which of your domains PHP Short Open Tag should be activated.
