Solution

Until now you know the Apache web server. But there is an alternative. Nginx (pronounced “engine ex”) is a web server developed in Russia that features a much better performance than Apache while using less resources at the same time.

As many web projects need .htaccess files and rely on the Apache web server syntax, Nginx is rarely used as the only web server on hosts. Bitpalace uses Nginx in all web space accounts as a frontend web server. This means, that all files that do not need to be processed by Apache are automatically delivered to your users by Nginx. This enables us to deliver a major part of your website extremely fast and resource-friendly compared to Apache-only installations. Requests that need individual processing of PHP scripts are passed through to the second web server on our hosts, Apache. Nginx will never be noticed by you, neither do you need to configure it. We filter all requests automatically that can be processed faster by Nginx than Apache. Your website benefits from extremely fast speed that you could never achieve with Apache alone. Your website will also behave to your visitors and you the same as if it was running on an Apache-only installation.
